Balance is not stillness

When it comes to burnout, many people only focus on work-related stress, but there are times when private life can be much more demanding.

According to the WHO, burnout is a work-related phenomenon, but I believe this is not the whole picture. We need to look at our entire lives and take into account every aspect when striving for that famous balance!

Sometimes we need to set boundaries in our personal lives and say no, which is often much harder with family members than with "strangers" at work.

A few weeks ago, I felt a strange satisfaction for days – the silence before the swing. Do you know that feeling when it's almost suspicious how good you feel in your own skin? That was me. And I was able to pat myself on the back (metaphorically speaking), smile, and enjoy this situation, even though I KNEW that something could happen at any moment to upset this balance.

Of course, it happened. And there's nothing wrong with that because balance is not a perpetually frozen, motionless state in the center. It's not a constant happiness that we work hard for all our lives, and when we achieve it, we're done. Oh no!

Balance is a continuous effort, during which you can enjoy the taste of eternity for short moments, which then quickly disappears.

Imagine a cyclist or a tightrope walker. They're not motionless. If they were, they would fall off. But as a result of their continuous work, there's that short, perfect moment from time to time - which you have to learn to enjoy.

After that, you can continue moving left and right to find that point again.

I'm in that movement right now. It may take a while for me to get back to a state of balance, but that's okay. Then it will start all over again - or rather, the balancing will continue.

Last weekend, I also experienced how great it is to allow ourselves to not feel good when there's chaos. Who said we always have to be okay? Let's love ourselves even when we fall off the bike!

In fact, that's when we should love ourselves the most!
